CRYOPEN is the latest cryotherapy device for fast, safe and effective treatment of all your benign (non cancerous) skin lesions! Read on to find out more…
Luceo Aesthetics are delighted to bring this minimally invasive treatment to clinic. The Cryopen - lets freeze those pesky lesions in a flash! The demand for this service has increased since the NHS no longer offer cryotherapy for cosmetic lesions. Angie has many years of prior experience, carrying out cryotherapy in general practice using liquid nitrogen. The innovative CryoPen device uses Nitrous Oxide, which is safer and more effective.
Angie has undergone in depth theoretical and practical CryoPen training from the company, IvanMed, to allow her to bring this treatment to her patients.
MASCED Pro Accreditation
Melanoma and Skin Cancer Early Detection (MASCED) is a nationally accredited training course developed by the Melanoma and Skin Charity – SKCIN. Angie was keen to update and enhance her knowledge to ensure she was only treating benign skin lesions within her scope of practice. She enrolled and successfully completed the MASCED Pro e-training and is now an accredited MASCED Pro practitioner.
What is CryoPen?
It is a pen like device that uses high pressured liquid nitrous oxide to deliver a very controlled, fine jet to the surface of benign skin lesions. The nitrous oxide freezes the cell fluid within the lesion, and this results in the formation of ice shards that cause rupture of the cell membrane, thus destroying the cell and the lesion. The CryoPen device is a medical grade device with both FDA and CE approval.
What lesions can CryoPen treat?
CryoPen can quickly treat Skin Tags, Plantar Warts (verruca), Common Warts, Seborrheic Keratosis, Solar Lentigo (age spots), Cherry Angioma (Campbell de Morgan spot), Angiofibroma, Dermatofibroma, Actinic Keratosis, Molluscum Contagiosum, Milia and Xanthelasma. Benign moles can be treated if these have been given the all clear by your GP or a Dermatologist.
Is the treatment painful?
The treatment causes minimum transient discomfort for a few seconds once the lesion has been frozen to the desired depth. Some patients do not find it uncomfortable at all whilst other may experience a transient stinging sensation.
How long does the CryoPen treatment take?
You will have a medical consultation to assess your lesion and ensure that there are no suspicious features that may require medical or dermatology referral. The actual treatment time for each lesion is only a couple of minutes!
How long does the lesion take to heal?
Occasionally a blister will form over the lesion and this is normal. This may persist for up to 5 days and should not be popped! Healing varies depending on the size, depth and location of the lesion and wound, but typically healing will occur within 2-6 weeks.
How many treatment sessions are required?
Most lesions can be treated in 1 session. Some lesions require a course of 2-3 sessions (especially viral warts or larger lesions).
Will my lesion return?
Most lesions will be permanently removed by the CryoPen cryotherapy treatment.
Are there any contraindications to treatment?
The treatment is not suitable for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding unless extenuating circumstances, and these would be assessed on a case by case basis. Although the treatment is suitable for children, with parental consent, Luceo Aesthetics are only licensed to treat those 18 years and over. Treatment should not be carried out within 4 weeks before or after any chemotherapy or radiotherapy. Diabetics with poor control may have issues with poor wound healing. Those on blood thinning drugs may also find slower wound healing.
How much does treatment cost?
The initial consultation with assessment is £50 and treatment then depends on size, location and number of lesions. An example of the cost to treat 3 small lesions would be £90 (£50 consultation and £40 for treating the 3 lesions).
