Lets Talk ACNE

Acne affects men and women of all ages and can be quite distressing, leading to those affected losing self confidence. Here at Luceo Aesthetics, we want everyone to be confident in their own skin.

Some people are more susceptible than others. Things like hormones, external environment factors and stress can play a role.

The bacteria P Acnes is responsible, so choosing a skin regime with medical grade products that will help tackle this will get you on the path to controlling and clearing your acne.

Some people produce more sebum and this leads to a buildup of dead skin cells and a perfect breeding ground for the p acne bacteria. Trapped sebum and bacteria that stay below the surface form whiteheads. When the skin pores open, exposing the sebum containing melanin to oxygen, it turns a brown/black colour to form blackheads.

Exfoliating the dead skin and trapped sebum will help get rid of the bacteria and unclog the pores. Don’t over exfoliate as this will then damage the skin barrier.

Over the counter products don’t have the same ability to work at deep cellular level compared to Obagi Medical Grade Systems ( such as the Clenziderm™️ range)

To get control of acne you need to control sebum, improve skin cell turnover and remove dead skin cells , control skin PH and this in turn will help reduce pore size.

Obagi medical grade products such as Clenziderm™️ are designed to work on mild to moderate acne and results can be achieved in as little as 1 week! It’s a simple 3 product regime with clinically proven results.

Other useful treatments that can greatly improve acne and mild acne scarring is a course of Obagi Blue Peel Radiance.

If you want to discuss your options to gain control of your acne, DM to arrange your personal consultation with our aesthetic nurse prescriber.
