Luceo Aesthetics are delighted to bring you one of the most popular collagen stimulation and skin rejuvenation treatments available - medical micro needling. This is one of the top 2 collagen induction treatments available and is very popular for positive ageing as well as treating various skin conditions.

Angie continues to increase her knowledge and expand her treatment menu. She travelled to Chorley to do further training with the well renowned Sandra McCoy Skin to be able to offer this amazing skin rejuvenation treatment to her patients.

What is micro needling?

Micro needling is an effective skin rejuvenation treatment to treat various skin imperfections and restore the healthy, youthful appearance of skin, by stimulating the natural production of collagen and elastin. It’s basically “gym for the skin” and helps firm and tone the skin.

Tiny sterile needles are used to puncture the upper layers of the skin to cause a micro trauma. This stimulates the body to produce new collagen and elastin to strengthen the skin. This has the effect of firming and lifting the skin as well as helping reduce any acne scarring, large open pores or other fine lines. It can also be used to treat and improve stretch marks and reduce pigmentation.

Clinicare Mesotherapy serums are added for an enhanced and more targeted treatment. The sterile mesotherapy vials contain a mixture of skin rejuvenating, hydrating, firming, tightening and antioxidant ingredients to restore moisture and firmness.

For an extra boost of collagen stimulation, you can opt to have some radio frequency treatment along with your micro needling using the dual injector pro machine

What concerns can micro needling help with?

Many different concerns can be treated with micro needling. The addition of specific serums can help with a more targeted result. The following are the main concerns we treat using micro needling:

Hyperpigmentation

Ageing Skin

Uneven skin tone

Fine lines and wrinkles

Stretch marks

Surgical scars

Acne Scars

Open pores

Telangiectasia (“spider veins”)

Rosacea – it helps strengthen, repair and hydrate the skin, making it more resistant to triggers that cause the redness and flushing associated with rosacea.

What device will be used for my micro needling treatment?

At Luceo Aesthetics we use the Raffine Automatic Micro Needle Therapy System (AutoMTS), one of the best devices to deliver precision depth and with less pain compared to manual devices (e.g. dermaroller). This is a medical grade device and is the first device of its kind to receive the new UKCA (Medical CE certification since leaving EU)

Clinical studies have shown AutoMTS to be more effective than ablative treatments such as laser resurfacing, dermabrasion and chemical peels. Raffine device micro needling treatment is just as effective as IPL, C02 laser and Fraxel in stimulating collagen and elastin production to thicken the skin thus erasing wrinkles and smoothing scars.

What areas of the body can be treated with micro needling?

The Raffine device can be used to deliver treatment to many areas of the body, most commonly the face, abdomen and thighs. Your skin is the largest organ of your body and its thickness varies at different parts of the face and body. The Raffine device is designed to allow easy and precise alteration to the needle depth to allow for effective and safe treatments in the different areas, unlike the manual derma-roller devices which have one set needle length.

How much will the treatment cost?

Cost per treatment is £110 for the face & neck and from £120 for body areas (price confirmed after consultation). Courses of 3 or 6 treatments can be booked for a discounted price. Patients will be required to pay a £30 non refundable booking fee to confirm their appointment, but this is deducted from your treatment cost. Your treatment package will include some sample products to help your skin make a good recovery.

You can add Dermalux LED light for £20 each at the end of your treatment to accelerate the healing process.

Quality and safety are our priorities. You deserve the highest standard of care, and we can deliver that.

What happens during my treatment?

You will receive a medical consultation/screening to ensure that you are suitable for the treatment. You will receive information regarding before/after care advice and what the treatment involves along with costs to allow you to make an informed decision to go ahead.

Your treatment will start with a gentle skin cleanse to ensure your skin is deeply cleansed to reduce any risk of infection.

This is followed by an instant painless peel (face only). No pain, No downtime, No peeling. This peel prepares the skin to allow best response to the micro needling treatment.

Your skin will then be disinfected to reduce infection risks.

The micro needling treatment will be carried out using the Raffine AutoMTS, which ensures accurate depth and minimum discomfort to deliver effective results. This part of the treatment will last approximately 15-20 minutes depending on the area being treated.

During micro needling, different mesotherapy serums will be applied and these can penetrate deep into the skin to nourish and deliver different ingredients depending on your concerns.

For facial treatments, a post treatment sheet mask is applied for up to 15 minutes. It contains a high concentration of Low Molecular Weight Hyaluronic Acid (LMWHA), Peptides with epidermal Growth Factors to activate skin cell regeneration, help restore the skins moisture and reduce any redness and irritation. You will then have SPF50 applied to protect against those UVA/UVB rays. It also has soothing, calming properties to promote skin healing.

For body treatments you will also have a post treatment sheet mask applied to the treated areas for up to 15 minutes.

You may be advised to use certain skincare products to enhance your treatment results.

For facial treatments you will receive some sample sachets of X3MEFG Pure Serum to use for the first few days instead of your normal moisturiser to help promote healing. You will also receive a sachet of instant painless peel to use on day 5 to help exfoliate and dry dead skin cells. For body treatments, you will receive a tube of Cebelia Extreme Care to use on the treated areas twice daily to promote healing.

You will be given aftercare advice to follow.

Is it painful?

The Raffine AutoMTS device has tiny needles that deliver many fast, precise punctures to the skin (up to 1000 needle insertions per second). Due to the speed of this automatic device, it is much less painful compared to the hand-held derma-roller devices. Patients tolerate the procedure well and have likened the sensation to that of being “scratched by a kitten” whilst others only feel a vibration over the skin. There may be situations where numbing cream may be required if needle depth is greater, depending on area and concerns being treated. All patients will receive verbal anaesthesia!

The needle depth on the Raffine can be easily adjusted to take into consideration the variable depth of skin on different areas of the face and body, thus targeting the correct depth for the concerns being treated.

How long will the treatment take?

At Luceo, we never rush our appointments, so you have time to discuss any concerns and feel relaxed during your treatment. The procedure time will be around 60 - 75 minutes, depending on which areas are being treated.

Can I go back to work after treatment?

Most people can return to work straight away (depending on their job) as there is minimal downtime. Your face will look slightly red as if sunburned, but this soon settles after a few hours. You will be given full aftercare information at your appointment. You should avoid exercise for 3 days and direct sun /extreme temperatures for 2 weeks.

Will I see the results straight away?

Whilst one treatment session will give visible results, a course of at least 3 treatments is recommended for best results. Stretch marks usually need 6 sessions for best results. The interval between will depend on each individual and what concerns/areas are being treated, but is generally around 4 weeks.

Some patients may choose to combine the micro-needling with radio-frequency to give additional collagen boosting.

How often should I have micro needling?

You will be given a tailored treatment plan to address your concerns. Although one session of micro needling will give positive results, most conditions will see best results from a course of 3-6 treatments, usually at monthly intervals. These intervals can be adjusted from 3-6 week intervals depending on your response.

It is not recommended to have any more than 6 facial treatments of micro needling per year.
